The Unit is a new Wing Chun School operating from Brixton.
Wing Chun is a Martial Art of Chinese origin, famous for its straight punches, low kicks and its sticking hands training technique. However, like all systems it is much more than that. Apart from becoming a strong combatant you can also:
- Develop good posture
- Improve your physical strength
- Develop your cardiovascular fitness
- Improve your ability to manage your feelings
- Become more aware of others
- Develop confidence
The list goes on. However, like all things in life:
What you put in will determine what you get out
About the coaches
Marc Wallach
Marc has been practicing Wing Chun since 1991. He has studied other Martial Arts, but feels that Wing Chun provides him with a training framework which best suits his physical and emotional needs.
Kenneth Robinson
Has trained in Wing Chun since 1985 and has also studied other Martial Arts. It was due to the nature, personality and the Martial maturity of his Wing Chun coach that he felt that Wing Chun was the art for him.
Both Marc Wallach and Kenneth Robinson studied their Wing Chun under Nino Bernardo (at the Basement), who himself studied under Wong Sheung Leung, who in turn studied under Yip Man. Nino Bernardo represents a teacher of good knowledge and a realistic and mature outlook to Wing Chun.
Marc and Kenneth believe that there is no such thing as the best Martial Art. They also believe that the individual makes the style. However Marc and Kenneth believe, like all Martial Arts, that there are training techniques within the system which can be very beneficial to all people including practitioners of other Martial Arts.
